Likelihood-free Inference in Strategic Contexts

This project addresses two problems rampant in political science: data scarcity and strategic processes which complicate inference by rendering likelihood functions intractable.

It does so by developing a simulation-based inference framework and applying it to two strategic processes: the probability of war between states and the estimation of audience costs during situations of international crisis bargaining.
